Your files and signing keys never leave your Mac — verifying and signing are fully on-device. The one exception is the optional registry: if you turn it on, Reconize sends your public handle and your file’s invisible mark (a short code, never the file itself) to our relay, so your work can be traced back to you after a platform strips its credentials. Yes. Reconize writes C2PA Content Credentials, the open provenance standard behind the Content Authenticity Initiative, so the record reads in any C2PA tool. On top of that it seals in an invisible watermark that survives a metadata strip: a pixel mark in photos, and Meta's open-source AudioSeal and VideoSeal in audio and video, so the mark lives in the sound and the frames themselves.

When you sign with a confirmed identity, Reconize adds a CAWG identity credential to the file listing the channels you connected, each one checked by Reconize at the time you connected it. Any C2PA reader can validate it against Reconize's public key. It says who stood behind the file and which accounts they proved they control. It does not say the file is true, unedited, or owned by that person; the rest of the credential covers edits, and ownership is a matter between people.
Not necessarily. Content Credentials are an open standard, so a signed file can be checked in the free Reconize app or any other C2PA tool, with no upload. It shows who signed it and when, and whether it's been changed since signing.
Verifying is browser-based and works on any device today, including Windows and iPhone, at verify.reconize.me with nothing to install. Signing runs on macOS (Apple silicon or Intel, macOS 14 or later); an iPhone Verify slice is on the near-term roadmap.
